Retreat Review

I would like to thank you everyone who came to the retreat. It was designed for you to have fun, get together with your peers, learn a bunch of new things, share the love we have for Capoeira and have the opportunity to let me tell you how important you are in my life and in the group.

I am pretty sure we accomplished it form the feed back of the instructors who stayed the whole weekend with us.

I want to review some of the points and discussions about capoeira and teaching capoeira we went over during the retreat of you guys can always come back here to review it. If I forget anything, please email me at mestrerony@gmail.com and I’ll be glad to post over here as well. So here we go:

* Teaching Is About Contribution:

The most important person in class is the student. Nothing wrong with training with your students but it’s their time to learn just like batizados, retreats and other teacher’s classes you take is your time to improve.
Is the chance to give back for all the fun you had and for all the things capoeira gave to you throughout these years. And of course, your chance to spread goodness in the world.

*You Have To Be On All The Time

Coffee, energy drinks, whatever it works… I go to the bathroom and smack my face and look at myself in the mirror and ask “who’s the mestre?” then I remind myself that “I am only as good teacher as my last class”.
My point is that is not the students fault if you don’t feel like giving classes. It’s not their fault if you fought with your significant one. Do you think they deserve an outstanding class every single class? If you are the instructor that I think you are, I know that the answer for this question is yes.
a so-so class turns out horrible results
a good class turns out so-so results
A great class turns out good results

*Take Care of Yourself First

It really doesn’t make sense to teach capoeira classes if you are not in great conditioning.
